Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Geeta:

Could you please talk about your background and journey?

Currently, I am the founder of Krasa Hair and Makeup Studio, specializing in Bridal Makeup and Hair Artistry. My professional journey has been marked by numerous ups and downs, with no stability until 2015. I completed my education at CBSE Delhi and Graduated from Delhi University.

Since childhood, I’ve aspired to pursue entrepreneurship, but due to a lack of guidance, I couldn’t recognize my potential initially. I began my career as a tutor and later transitioned to the corporate sector, working in telecommunications (Reliance).

However, I found myself unsatisfied with my job. In 2008, I moved to Mumbai and pursued a PCWD Diploma from Arena Animation while engaging in freelancing work. Despite these endeavours, I felt stuck in a situation that didn’t align with my aspirations. Subsequently, I ventured into the IT sector to enhance my financial stability In 2012.

How did you discover your passion?

I pursued additional education in Digital Marketing from Niesbud in 2012 (National Institute of Entrepreneurship and Small Business). Following this, I joined the private sector as a Social Media Trainer and SEO expert, teaching classes predominantly to entrepreneurs.

One of our clients from Dubai, seeking support for her husband’s business, attended my digital marketing class, sparking an idea within me. It was then that I decided to embark on my entrepreneurial journey and establish my own business. Then, I started the trilogy on how to convert my hobby into a business.

Despite the challenges, what keeps you going when things get tough?

There are a lot of challenges, but you should always believe in yourself. There have been many incidents where I felt that money is everything and there’s no room for emotions in the world; be practical (I don’t know, maybe I felt that emotions have no value). Yes, everyone wants financial stability in their life, so I also wanted the same, which kept me going.

What are the three most important lessons you’ve learned in your life?

I’ve learned many things in my life, but the most important lesson is not to be overly emotional and easily available (main kafi emotional hoon, jiski vajah se kafi problems mujhe aayi).

Secondly, equally important for me is learning to say NO.

Lastly, but not least, you should have a few genuine friends who guide you wisely; otherwise, it’s better to be alone and happy.

In your opinion, what are the keys to success?

The key to success varies from person to person and situation to situation, but here are some universally recognized keys to success:

Clear Goals: Setting specific, achievable goals and working towards them with determination.

Continuous Learning: Remaining open to new ideas, experiences, and knowledge to adapt and grow.

Resilience: Bouncing back from setbacks and learning from failures.

Positive Attitude: Maintaining a positive mindset even during difficult times can lead to creative solutions and better outcomes.

Work and Perseverance: Putting in consistent effort and not giving up in the face of challenges.

Adaptability: Being flexible and able to adjust to changing circumstances or environments.

Self-Confidence: Believing in oneself and one’s abilities is essential for taking risks and pursuing goals.

What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?

Identify a cause or problem you’re passionate about solving. Building a business with a clear purpose not only fuels your motivation but also resonates with customers and investors and leverages the latest technologies to streamline processes, reach a wider audience, and innovate in your industry.

Stay abreast of tech trends and integrate them into your business strategy and most importantly embrace failure as a natural part of the entrepreneurial process. Learn from your mistakes, iterate, and pivot when necessary. Each setback is an opportunity for growth and improvement.
